Thousands of demonstrators took to the streets of Aden on Friday in protest at a new federal-system law in the country. Protests started after Friday's prayers in response to calls by some political powers in the southern region. The rallies coincided with the anniversary of President Mansour Hadi's election. Gunfire was heard during the rallies. Eyewitnesses said some injuries occurred as security forces attempted to prevent protesters from reaching their destination in central Aden. On February 10, Yemen agreed to create a federation with six regions as President Hadi struggled to stop the country from falling apart. The move ignited rage among citizens and some political powers in Yemen. Under the agreement, Yemen should be divided into six autonomous regions; four in the north and two in the south Source: MENA
