The Arab League Council will hold an extraordinary meeting on Wednesday at the level of permanent representatives to discuss ways of confronting Israel's latest atrocities at Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Israeli troops and police raided the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex early Tuesday and forcefully dispersed Palestinian worshipers and protesters ahead of a Knesset debate on a plan to annex the mosque. Israeli forces fired rubber-coated steel bullets and stun grenades at Muslim worshipers. Mohamed Subaih, the League's assistant secretary general for Palestine said the meeting will be held at the request of Palestine to discuss the serious situation in the holy city where Israeli occupation authorities are seeking to exercise full authority over the third holiest Muslim shrine and to bar Muslims from the compound to allow for excavations and execution of Jewish plans at the site. He called for inter-Palestinian conciliation and for carrying out previous Arab summit resolutions to support Palestinians in Jerusalem. Source: QNA
