Arab League to meet on Syria in Rabat

Morocco has officially announced that the Arab Foreign Ministers will meet in Rabat on Wednesday to discuss the latest developments of the Syrian crisis, an official at the Moroccan Foreign Ministry confirmed Monday. The official said that the Arab ministerial meeting will be held under the chairmanship of the Arab League and Morocco on the sidelines of the Arab-Turkish Forum, noting that Turkey will not take part in the meeting. The meeting aims to look at Syria's implementation of the Arab plan, which mainly included the stop the violence, the withdrawal of armed manifestations of the cities and the release of all political prisoners, according to the source. At a meeting of the League's foreign ministers in Cairo on Saturday, 18 of the 22 members voted to suspend Syria from November 16 over its failure to comply with an agreement to end its crackdown on protests. Syria, Yemen and Lebanon voted against the measure, and Iraq abstained.
