A top member of Boko Haram responsible for the supply of arms and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) to the militant group has been arrested by security operatives in the country's northeast region, an official said.
Ibrahim Abdullahi, provincial commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) in Borno State, late Sunday told reporters that the unnamed Boko Haram kingpin was arrested last Tuesday in Askira Uba district during a routine security check.
"The notorious kingpin, recruiter, as well as supplier of arms and (IEDs) to Boko Haram terrorists, has since been handed over to the Nigerian army for further investigation," the official said.
According to Abdullahi, the Boko Haram had confessed that his three children were also arrow heads of the Boko Haram group.
Nigeria's security agencies have recently decimated the ranks of Boko Haram, retaking most of the areas previously under the group's control.
