The Spanish Embassy in Moscow is being evacuated following an anonymous call about the threat of an explosion.
A source from Russia's emergency services said that an anonymous call was received warning of an imminent explosion in the embassy's premises. Embassy employees are being escorted to safety, awaiting the arrival of sniffer dogs.
A wave of false alarms is sweeping over the cities of Russia. Various anonymous calls have been received in the last fortnight warning of the presence of bombs in government buildings, shopping malls, educational institutes and other centres of mass congregation resulting in the evacuation of thousands of people on separate occasions this month.
Responding to anonymous calls, the authorities have removed about two dozen suspicious objects from various locations of threat. The objects are being examined for explosive substances, but so far the presence of explosives has not been confirmed. Various government agencies, including Russia’s internal military force, Rosgvardia, are involved in the handling of such calls.
