Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair on Wednesday tendered his resignation as envoy of the Middle East Quartet diplomatic group after eight years in the job, according to a source close to him.
"Tony Blair has decided to step aside from his role as Quartet Representative," the source said in an email, adding that he had written to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and would step down next month.
