
Calm prevailed Wednesday morning in the vicinity of the Police Academy in New Cairo ahead of the fifth trial session of deposed President Mohammad Morsi and 14 other defendants of the Muslim Brotherhood group in the Ittihadiya violence case. MENA correspondent said security bodies imposed tight security measures inside and outside the Academy. A number of police and military armored vehicles were seen stationed in front of Gate 8 of the Police Academy allocated for the entry of lawyers and journalists to cover the proceedings of the trial. The security plan, carried out under the directives of Interior Minister Major General Mohammad Ibrahim, included the deployment of 35 squads of the Central Security Forces, 30 combat groups and 44 armored vehicles to secure the trial venue and prevent any attempt by the MB elements to disrupt the trial proceedings.
