Washington \'concerned\' over Lebanon security

US ambassador to Lebanon, Maura Connelly, expressed her country\'s commitment to supporting the Lebanese military as the \"only legitimate force that bears responsibility of protecting borders of the country and defending its sovereignty and independence.\" Following her meeting with Jean Kahwaji, Chief of the Lebanese Armed Forces, she stated: \"We appreciate the efforts exerted by the Lebanese army and the security forces to protect the security of the country during the coming period.\" The US diplomat expressed anxiety over the current security situation witnessed in Lebanon, calling on different parties to keep restraint and respect Lebanon\'s security.
