Death of tribal leader raises tensions in Sinai

A state of tension is dominating the North Sinai governorate following the death of Egypt\'s former parliamentarian and tribal leader, abdel-Hamid Salem. The residents of Arish blame supporters of Egypt\'s former leader Mohammed Morsi for the incident, as he expressed support for Egypt\'s military. A security source said that the former parliamentarian was killed after being attacked by armed people during his exit from the mosque after performing dawn prayers. A medical source said that armed men opened fire on Salem from their car, after which they then escaped.
