
Egypt called for holding an urgent meeting for the Arab League's Somalia committee at the permanent delegates' level in order to discuss the the current political crisis in Somalia.
In a statement Sunday, the Foreign Ministry said that the initiative were made to underline the pivotal Arab role and the Somali panel in contributing to mediation efforts made to resolve the current crisis.
Somali Prime Minister Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed, an economist who has been running the cabinet since December 2013, fell out with President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud last month over the composition of the new cabinet.
The Somali panel at the Arab League groups Egypt, Jordan, the UAE, Tunisia, Algeria, Djibouti, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Somlia, Oman, Libya, Yemen and the AL General Secretariat.
