The High Election Commission is gearing up for the presidential polls that should take place before parliamentary elections in line with directives by interim president Adly Mansour. The HEC has contacted the Finance Ministry to secure allocations for the voting process, said Secretary General Hamdan Hamdi Monday. Hamdi said preparatory meetings were held with representatives of the foreign and local development ministries to discuss overseas voting. Hamdi suggested that Egyptian expats cast their votes without registering their names after establishing an electronic constituency to prevent double voting and guarantee a transparent process. The HEC is working on mechanisms to guarantee voters abroad do not cast their ballots at home again if they happen to return to Egypt during the elections. Source: MENA
