Cairo – Amr Waly

A senior member of Egypt\'s Salafist al-Nour Party has claimed that there is no justification for banning the Muslim Brotherhood. Khaled Alam el-Din told Egyptian television that the Islamist group\'s vision and policies would remain a part of the country\'s history. He was speaking after a government spokesman said the plan to legally dissolve the Brotherhood had been put forward by Prime Minister  Hazem el-Beblawi and was being \"studied\" by the authorities. The Islamist politician disclosed that the Salafist al-Nour Party is currently in talks with a number of opposition movements to resolve the current political crisis, adding that any plan for the future of Egypt cannot revolve around the reinstatement of ousted president Mohammed Morsi. Din urged Morsi supporters to bring an end to their demonstrations and sit-ins for the time being, and turn to the negotiating table. He also paid tribute to former vice-president Mohammed ElBaradei, following his resignation over the violence in Cairo on Wednesday. The politician also criticised satellite television channels for their biased coverage in support of the state, adding several station had failed to accurately reflect the situation on the ground.
