Egyptian Defence Minister and Chief of Staff Reda Hafez has denied that Egypt was planning to establish an airbase in Sudan to strike Ethiopian dams. Some websites reported that Sudan and Egypt establish the plan together. Hafez said in a press release on Monday: “This is completely untrue. This has been published to disturb the Ethiopian-Egyptian relations by someone who wants to interfere in our good relations, or wish to prevent the settlement of the dams issue." Ethiopian dams have been reported to redistribute the Nile water in different quantities, which has caused dispute and controversy between the countries in the past.
