The Egyptian Armed Forces have dealt a strong blow to militant groups in Sinai when the border guard forces foiled an attempt to smuggle advanced wireless telecommunications sets, whose range could reach 100-200 km via one of the tunnels in Rafah border city.
The border guard forces detected a group of people moving inside olive farms in the area in the very early hours of the morning. They clashed with these militant elements who fled the scene after a fierce shootout leaving behind the seized equipment.
The forces seized 14 advanced receiving and sending sets and 14 net reinforcing sets together with 11 packs of materials used in stabilizing stations and aerial systems.
