El-Erian to replace Morsi in Brotherhood

The executive office of the ‘Freedom and Justice party’, the political arm of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, today announced the selection of Essam el-Erian, Vice President of the party, to be the party\'s temporary new leader, replacing Dr Mohammed Morsi, the elected president. A statement issued by the party and obtained by ‘Arabstoday’, confirmed that El-Erian will replace Morsi temporarily till they hold general elections. El-Erian was acting as the party’s head during the last period, due to the preoccupation of Mohammed Morsi with the presidential elections.
