The Egyptian Constitution Party Chairman Mohamed ElBaradei called for the Egyptian people to vote \"No\" in the second phase of the referendum “for the sake of Islamic law”. In a televised speech ElBaradei said: \"We want Sharia law to rule and therefore we will vote No.\" He claimed that: \"the Constitution is a distorted entity and the ballot is defective because it is tainted by fraud.” Stressing his optimism with the first phase results, ElBaradei called for a return to the constitution of 1971 and the formation of a technocratic government. He concluded \"the ambiguous relationship between Al-Azhar and the judiciary stated in the constitution will get us in to lots of trouble.\"
