Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and the European Police Office (Europol) will sign the Agreement on Operational and Strategic Cooperation on Aug. 31 in Sarajevo, local media reported on Wednesday.
Director of Europol Rob Wainwright will sign this agreement during his two-day visit to BiH with the Minister of Security of BiH Dragan Mektic.
According to BiH Ministry of Security, this will be an extremely important step towards the improvement of cooperation between BiH and the countries of the European Union in the field of security, especially in combating and investigating serious forms of international crime.
"The agreement will not only enable the exchange of operational information between BiH and Europol Member States, including exchange of personal data on suspects, but also represents a step forward on the European path of BiH," the BiH Ministry of Security said.
During his visit, the Europol director will also visit the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of BiH and the State Investigation and Protection Agency.
