An improvised explosive device exploded near a Lebanese Army patrol as it passed by Bab El-Ramel area in Tripoli, northern Lebanon, at dawn Tuesday, but there are no reports of injuries.
An army statement said that the IED was estimated to weigh 800 gram and was placed on the side of the road within a metal container.
A security cordon was immediately enforced at the site to facilitate proper investigations, the army said.
A suicide bomber had on June 20 blown himself up at an interior security force roadblock in Daher El-Baidar area between the Beqaa and Beirut. The attack left one military officer dead and injured 23 others.
