
Member of Fatah’s Central Committee Azzam Al-Ahmad hasannounced that the Egyptian authorities promised to fully open the Rafah crossingfollowing the formation of the Palestinian national consensus government.Al-Ahmad, who arrived in the Gaza Strip yesterday evening through Beit Hanouncrossing for consultations regarding the formation of the new government ofconsensus, said that he was on a visit to Egypt 48 hours before arriving in Gaza andmet with Egyptian officials who are eager to achieve reconciliation.He told reporters that there was an agreement with the Egyptian officials to openthe Rafah crossing, which is the first thing to be announced for the Palestinianpeople as soon as the formation of the consensus government.Officials from Fatah and Hamas movements have met in Gaza last night to discussthe formation of the government consensus with hopes to resolve their seven-yearrift.
