Cairo – Akram Ali
Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmi, said on Wednesday that Egypt is openly communicating with all foreign parties, including the European Union, to discuss the crisis affecting the country. His comments came after foreign ministers from the 28 EU members states held an emergency meeting on Wednesday to discuss a security crackdown on supporters of the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood party, and its leader former President Mohammed Morsi, in which more than a thousand people were killed by security forces. In a press statement issued on Wednesday, the minister said, “The government\'s decision with regard to its internal and external affairs is one made from the will of the people who took to streets in millions, (during Egypt’s 2011 revolution which toppled President Hosni Mubarak), to demand their legitimate rights to build a real, modern and well-established democracy.” He added, “Egypt can never accept any violation of its sovereignty or the independence of its decisions, nor any interference in its internal affairs”. Fahmy said the Egyptian government was committed to establishing a political road map which will seek to implement the demands of all Egyptians.
