Yemeni authorities are looking for a fugitive who killed a security official in a tribal area of Zamar governorate on Thursday. The incident took place when the security official, Lieutenant Abd-Allah el-Sarem, attempted to arrest the wanted person on an order from the judicial authorities. Security sources told Arabstoday the security official was shot during the attempted arrest, when the defendant refused to surrender. He opened fire on Lieutenant el-Sarem, who later died in a local hospital in Maabar. Authorities fear potential clashes between the tribes of the victim and the killer. The officer’s family demanded the fugitive be arrested and prosecuted, warning that they would take justice into their own hands.
