Armed forces loyal to the coalition of Hadhramaut tribes in southeastern Yemen have managed to control the city of Al-Shahar and Riyan airport in southern Yemen.
They also managed to deploy in a military camp after the Yemeni army units had withdrawn from it, according to a local source in the city.
The operation came two days after Al-Qaida terrorist group had attacked the southern city of Mukalla, the main sea port and the capital city of the Hadhramaut coastal region, without any resistance on part of the Yemeni army forces who fled the area.
That state of affairs prompted the southern tribes to square up and mobilize their elements to ward off the militants of Al-Qaida.
The tribes coalition have full control of the city of Al-Shahar and Riyan airport and are advancing to liberate the city of Mukalla from the militants of Al-Qaida, according to reports coming in from the area.
