A heavy explosion rocked southern Kandahar province of Afghanistan early Thursday morning. According to reports, the incident took place after a suicide bomber detonated his explosives near a police check post in southern Kandahar city. Provincial governor spokesman Javid Faisal confirmed the report, saying at least three Afghan police officers were killed following the blast. The explosion took place in Market-e-Yarana area in the fourth district of Kandahar after a suicide bomber detonated explosives packed in a motorcycle, Afghan Online Newspaper (Khaama Press) quoted Javid Faisal as saying. In the meantime provincial hospital officials said at least four wounded police officers were taken to the hospital so far. No group including the Taliban militants has so far claimed responsibility behind the incident.
