Al-Arabiya Exclusives published secret documents showing communication between Hezbollah and the Syrian leadership about the elimination of leaders of Syrian opposition in Lebanon. In response to this, Hezbollah has issued a statement denying any relation to the assassination of journalist and politician, Gebran Tueni on December 12, 2005. The statement said: “The stances voiced by the March 14 forces on several issues are always based on fake documents and fabricated information that proves day after day that whoever is used to cheating can only excel in fabrications. The latest wave of the March 14 forces is what Al-Arabiya channel of Saudi Arabia claimed to posses of documents it obtained from members of the Syrian opposition, inventing events and fabricating accusations that have nothing to do with the reality, including the assassination of the late Gebran Tueni.” The statement added: “It was not surprising that those who had excelled in fabricating false witnesses doubted by they own regional allies, especially Qataris and Turkish who considered Al-Arabiya documents as false, fabricated and without any foundation. This makes you wonder if they have received an American memo to raise tension in the internal conditions.\" “Hezbollah denies any involvement in the assassination of late Gebran Tueni and affirms its condemnation of political assassination. We await the judiciary to decide on the matter after it was clearly proven that those who claim concern about the country and its people do not demonstrate a minimal degree of responsibility” the statement stated.
