Huthi rebels launched attacks in the southern Yemeni governorates of Taiz, Aden and Marib overnight Saturday, just an hour after a truce went into effect in the Arab country.
Huthis and troops loyal to former president Ali Abdullah Saleh raided sites of the resistance in al Dabab area in western Taiz. Some of those sites had just come under control of the resistance.
Coalition jets, meanwhile, targeted troops who were advancing toward Jabal Jora in Taiz, residents were quoted by Sky News as saying. The jets are still flying above the city, according to the residents.
Fierce clashes erupted in the northern parts of Taiz in response to the Houthi raids.
The UN Security Council had urged all sides to observe the truce from midnight on Friday.
Aid agencies say a blockade on Yemen has worsened the humanitarian crisis after months of conflict.
More than 80% of Yemen's 25 million people now need some form of aid.
