Local sources in Ta'izz said Huthis backed by forces loyal to ousted president Ali Abdullah Saleh seized the port city of Almakha, 75 Kms away from Bab-el-Mandab and 260 Kms away from Aden, where President Abd Rabou Mansour Hadi is staying after the seizure of capital Sanaa.
Ansar Allah of the Huthis said the seizure of the portal city comes as part of efforts to seize the city of Aden.
The Bab-el-Mandeb is a strait located between Yemen on the Arabian Peninsula, and Djibouti and Eritrea in the Horn of Africa. It connects the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden.
