Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is set to visit Cairo next week, making him the first Iranian leader to visit Egypt since the country’s 1979 revolution severed diplomatic ties. The visit forms part of an Iranian delegation to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation [OIC] summit in Cairo. "I hope that Iranian-Egyptian relations return to the full diplomatic level," Amani Mojtaba, head of Iran's interest section in Cairo, told Reuters. Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi visited Iran in August last year. The OIC summit represents Morsi’s first major international hosting event since taking power seven months ago.
