The Iraqi military said it has arrested the leader of a militant group - Abdullah al-Issawy, on Wednesday, in the city of Fallujah – west of the capital Baghdad. A military source told Arab Today that four helicopters and 25 armoured vehicles were used in the ambush. According to a police source in Al Anbar province, Issawwy’s brother was arrested on the same day in the city of Ramadi. Al Anbar has witnessed a wave of sectarian violence between Sunni and Shiite Muslims, which has left hundreds dead in targeted roadside bombings and suicide attacks. Security forces have to date failed to curb the growing ferocity of the attacks.
