Iraqi forces killed 40 Daesh militants during military operations in Anbar and Salahuddine governorates.
The operations were designed to liberate Beiji, the biggest Iraqi oil refinery, from the grip of the terrorist group.
Iraqi Interior Minister Spokesman said joint forces from the Special Iraqi Troops and police backed by forces of Al Hashd el Shaabi (popular committee) took part in the operations.
Twenty terrorists have been killed during the operation to clear Beiji refinery after fierce clashes. Sappers units also joined the operation to defuse 25 explosive charges, three booby-trapped cars as well as several landmines planted by the terrorist group in the vicinity of the refinery.
Meanwhile, the Iraqi intelligence directorate said its troops killed 18 Daesh members in Falloujah, Anbar, west of Baghdad. The intelligence units shelled the terrorist locations with rockets that damaged a workshop for making car bombs and explosive charges.
