Ramadan Shallah, leader of the armed Palestinian faction Islamic Jihad, has made a surprise visit to Khartoum. Sources revealed the Islamic Jihad leader met with Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir in the Sudanese capital on Sunday. The source, speaking on condition of anonymity, claimed relations between Sudan and Palestinian resistance factions remained “strong,” despite the infamous rift between Bashir and Sudanese Islamist leader, Hassan al-Turabi. The visit follows a spate of Palestinian delegations to the country, following recent visits by Hamas chief Khaled Meshaal. Shallah’s meeting coincided with a visit to Gaza Strip by a Sudanese delegation led by former adviser to Sudanese President, Kottby al-Mehdi
