'Islamist' protester killed in clash with Egypt police

An "Islamist" protester was killed in clashes with police in Egypt's second city Alexandria on Sunday, officials said, as the country marked the fraught anniversary of its 2011 popular uprising.
Police officials said the protester shot at police during an Islamist demonstration. Police returned fire and killed him, they said.
Three protesters were also wounded in the clash, the officials said.
Islamists had called for protests on the uprising anniversary against the government of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the former army chief who ousted Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in 2013.
Morsi had won the first election after the uprising toppled longtime strongman Hosni Mubarak.
But Morsi's year at the helm was divisive and brought out millions of protesters demanding his resignation, prompting the army to overthrow him and launch a deadly crackdown on his supporters.
