Two Palestinian security officials were killed and one critically wounded on Wednesday night after an Israeli airstrike on a car in al-Jneina, east Rafah, South Gaza Strip. Spokesman for the Ministry of Health, Ashraf al-Qedra, said that ambulances transferred the two bodies and the injured to Abu Yousef al-Najjar Hospital in Rafah. Witnesses said that two air-to-ground missiles hit a civilian car completely destroying it. The Ministry of Interior in the dismissed government mourned the deaths of 33 year old, First Lieutenant, Ashraf Yousef Saleh and 22 year old Assistant of the Border Authority, Anis Abu al-Einein. The ministry published a statement on its website saying: “The two killed were on their daily official civil mission of checking and securing the southern borders between Gaza Strip and Egypt. This escalation shows the destructive intentions of the Zionist occupation towards Gaza, which is confirmed in the statements of its criminal leaders and calling for implementing wide military operations in the last period. The occupation targeting staff of the Interior Ministry is a proof that the occupation does not want the stability in Gaza to continue and expresses its frustration about the success of the ministry and its bodies in maintaining security.” The ministry invited all the Arab, international and rights bodies to urgently intervene to stop the Zionist escalation and limit its continuous crimes against the Palestinian people.
