Israeli troops penetrate into east Rafah

Israeli military troops carried out incursion into the eastern outskirts of Rafah, south east of the Gaza Strip early Sunday.
Israeli tanks and military machines participated in the incursion which was covered under heavy firing, local radio stations said.
This incursion coincided with surveillance aircraft flying in the region, the source added.
Israeli army bulldozers also destroyed large areas of Palestinian farmlands, the radio said.
The border regions in the Gaza Strip frequently witness Israeli incursions and firing targeting many of the farmers and workers' lands.
Meanwhile, a missile was fired from the northern Gaza Strip toward southern Israel early on Sunday, where it exploded in an open area and did not result in any injuries or damage, the Israeli forces said.
