Italian President, Sergio Mattarella, has bestowed the Order of the Star of Italy upon Judge Abdul Rahman Murad Al Balushi, Director of International Cooperation Department at the Ministry of Justice, in recognition of his exceptional efforts in supporting and strengthening relations of cooperation between the UAE and Italy in the fields of justice and the judiciary.
During a ceremony held on the occasion, which was attended by a number of diplomats, Liborio Stellino, Ambassador of Italy to the UAE, decorated Judge Al Balushi with the medal, praising his role in promoting aspects of judicial cooperation, particularly in the signing of judicial agreements between the UAE and Italy. The ambassador also hailed the level of relations reached between the two countries in recent years in various fields.
Judge Al Balushi expressed his delight on receiving the medal, saying that the honour is also a tribute to the UAE Government and its directives to seek to strengthen cooperation relations with all countries, a stance reaffirmed by Sultan bin Saeed Al Badi, Minister of Justice, to strengthen judicial and legal cooperation between the ministry and its counterparts around the world.
Al Balushi also expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Italian Government for the generous gesture and to the Italian Ambassador for his role in promoting and consolidating the excellent relations the two nations share.
Al Balushi is the first UAE judge to receive the Order of the Star of Italy, which is a national order granted as an honour to those who contribute in strengthening Italy's friendship and cooperation relations, as well as for enhancing its national prestige abroad.
The award is granted by the Italian President upon a recommendation from the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
