His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Thursday discussed the latest developments in the Middle East and efforts to fight terrorism and terrorist organisations.
During a telephone conversation, the top UN official offered condolences, on behalf of the international community, over the victims of the heinous terrorist act that targeted an advanced military post on the northeastern borders, according to Jordan News Agency (PETRA).
The UN stands by Jordan during this hard time, Ban told King Abdullah, while reiterating the international community support to the Kingdom and its efforts to tackle challenges caused by the regional turmoil.
The secretary general also praised the efforts being exerted by Jordan to deal with the repercussions of the Syrian crisis and preserve the security and stability in the Middle East.
Meanwhile, King Abdullah underscored the importance of the international community to shoulder its responsibility with regards to the Syrian refugees crisis.
Jordan, he reiterated, would not accept posing any threat to its borders' security and stability. He also affirmed that the Kingdom has repeatedly asked the international community to exert more efforts to address the Syrian crisis, mainly the refugees file.
