Libya condemns Russian embassy attack

Libya\'s Foreign Ministry has condemned an attack by unidentified gunmen on the Russian Embassy in Tripoli. The attack is an irresponsible act aiming at undermining the strategic relations between Libya and Russia, said a statement by the ministry on Thursday. The historic relations binding the two countries cannot be affected by such a wicked act, the statement said. The ministry renewed full keenness on the safety and security of all foreign diplomatic missions in Libya. \"In Tripoli ... a shooting occurred and there was an attempt to enter the territory of the Russian embassy in Libya,\" said Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich. \"According to the most preliminary information there were no injuries among members of the Russian diplomatic mission,\" he added.
