The chief prosecutor of Edfu, Chancellor Mohamed Abdel-Hamid has referred a farmer claiming to be Iman Mahdi, to the Supreme State Security Prosecution. Locals say Ahmed Mahmoud Abu Haj Tavi has been spreading \"strange\" ideas which are incompatible with Islam. These includes exemption from praying, fasting, and giving charity. The man has also authorised polygamy, in a way which contradicts the Sharia. Aswan Security Director General Hassan Abdul-Hay ordered the arrest of Tavi in the village of Tounnap. After investigations, Edfu\'s public prosecutor has referred him to State Security Prosecution.
