Security sources at Beirut International Airport have revealed that Internal Security Forces officials have exposed a drug-smuggling operation in the major transport hub. Two people of Australian citizenship were arrested for trying to smuggle a large quantity of drugs to Australia via Abu Dhabi. The suspects, MA, 47, and NB, 50, were carrying six boxes of candy, each weighing about 20 kilograms. On inspection, security officers found that the drugs were stored in a way inside the boxes that made the banned substance difficult to detect. After being checked by the Public Prosecution in Mount Lebanon, they were referred to the Drug Control office for interrogation. The contents of the boxes will be tested to identify the quality of the drugs and their weight.
