Security sources in North Sinai governorate have reported that a group of unknown militants have seized an Egyptian military car on Sunday night whilst it was crossing the city of Arish in the governorate capital, injuring one soldier. Sources suggested that the seizing of the car was to place more pressure on the government to release prisoners from the area inhabitants. This incident is considered the first to happen inside Sinai lands. Since last August, Sinai has witnessed a wide security operation following a number of wanted people who Egyptian authorities have deemed as "Extremist Islamists" after attacking the Egyptian borders in Rafah killing, sixteen Egyptian solider and an officer.
