Lebanon’s Interior Minister Marwan Sharbel met with a delegation from the families of kidnapped Shiite Lebanese people today. A strike is being organized by the relatives in front of the Qatari embassy in Lebanon on Thursday. Adham Zogheib, son of one of those kidnapped, said that the meeting with the minister was aimed at persuading Lebanese officials to play an active role in securing the release of his relative. He stressed that the minister expressed his support for their demands, clarifying that he would coordinate with the Qatari side to resolve this humanitarian issue. Zogheib denied media reports about the families’ refusal to meet with the Lebanese official, clarifying that the meeting was delayed but did take place as planned.
