Ministerial changes anticipated in Sudan

The Sudanese government looks set to carry out ministerial changes, political sources in Khartoum have told Arab Today. It is anticipated that key National Congress Party (NCP) ministers will leave their executive positions in the coming days. Sudanese newspaper Khartoum Monitor said that one of President Omar al-Bashir\'s deputies might be in line to lead the Islamic Movement (IM). Sudan\'s first Vice-President Ali Osman Mohammed Taha is currently the secretary-general of the IM. The newspaper stated that the NCP would give the Ministry of Information and Communications to its coalition partner, the Democratic Unionist party (DUP). It is probable that changes will also take place in the ministries of defence, finance, energy, agriculture and justice, as well as the Presidency of the Republic. Earlier this year, President Bashir had announced his intention of stepping down from party leadership and not run in the 2015 presidential elections.
