Security authorities apprehended 1,079 rioters who on Saturday took part in demonstrations, organized by the Muslim Brotherhood organization, with the intention to undermine celebrations that marked the January 25 revolution, the Ministry of Interior said.Police succeeded in confronting attempts by the troublemakers to jeopardize the nation-wide celebrations, it said in a statement released late on Saturday.Security forces have seized and confiscated arms and ammunition, including locally-improvised explosives in possession of the rioters. Those trouble makers who mingled with the demonstrators chanted "hostile slogans," opened fire and set off explosives in a bid to terrorize citizens. They also engaged in violent clashes with the marching citizens in various governorates, the MoI said.Authorities have also foiled bids by these activists to storm police stations, the official statement said. Government officials have accused the Muslim Brotherhood organization of masterminding violence in Cairo and other regions. The detained former president, Mohamed Mursi, a leading member of the Brotherhood, had succeeded Mubarak but was ousted in July. Yesterday's violence across the nation involved supporters and opponents of the Brotherhood. Source: KUNA
