Cairo - Akram Ali
Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi has sacked forced Intelligence Chief Maj Gen Murad Mowafi following the attacks on Sinai, which claimed the lives of 16 Egyptian soldiers. Morsi appointed Abdel Wahid Raafat Shehata for the vacant role. Shehata will also be the new commander of the Presidential Guard, replacing Najib Abdul Salam. He also fired the governor of North Sinai and urged his interior minister to sack more officials within the security department. The President issued instructions to appoint a new head of the Military Police instead of Maj Gen Hamdi Badin. This government security reshuffle comes with a retaliation on Sinai from Morsi. In the early hours of Wednesday, an air strike was launched on Sinai, which killed 20 people.
