Nasrallah: Dialogue only solution in Syria

Hezbollah’s leader reiterated Monday that only a cessation of hostilities and dialogue could resolve the crisis in Lebanon’s neighbor Syria. \"What is needed in Syria is a halt to fighting, [the involvement of] guarantors countries, dialogue and a political solution to preserve Syria which would preserve us all,” Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah said in an interview with Almayadeen television. \"Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Egypt with international help should work toward a dialogue, a compromise and a political solution in Syria,\" he added. Nasrallah also said that the West had a single intention vis a vis Syria: the toppling of the Syrian President Bashar Assad. The Hezbollah chief however ruled out any military intervention in the crisis-torn country. Nasrallah also said that Syrian opposition had no intention to enter dialogue with Assad, who he said had voiced his readiness to scrap his party’s constitutional right to rule the country as part of a compromise. Nasrallah said it would be a mistake to describe the conflict in Syria in sectarian terms. \"What is happening in Syria is not a sectarian conflict but a conflict over political choices,\" he said. \"It is a mistake to describe events in Syria as sectarian conflict,” he added.
