A Muslim man has been killed, and a Coptic man injured, after sectarian clashes broke out in Naga Hassan, west of Luxor, Upper Egypt. Authorities confirmed three houses were burned down in the violence on Friday. The deceased individual was identified as Hassan Sayyed Sedqy. Locals said that Sedqy was involved in a confrontation with three Copts, who killed him and escaped from the scene. Muslim youth in the village then retaliated by attacking one of the Christian men and set fire to three houses belonging to Copts. Security forces were deployed in the area. Firefighters and civil protection forces were also present, fearing a relapse of violence.
