
Senators John McCain and Lindsey Graham, both members of the US Senate Armed Services ?Committee, are expected arrive in Cairo on Monday for a two day visit to Egypt. ? US President Barack Obama asked Senators Lindsey Graham and John McCain to travel to Egypt ?to hold intensive negotiations with Egyptian officials and other concerned parties, in the hope of finding a way out of the current political crisis. The diplomatic effort intensified over the weekend to end the impasse in Egypt between supporters of the army-led overthrow of former president Mohammed Morsi, and backers of Morsi’s ousted Muslim Brotherhood-led government. On Sunday, US Deputy Secretary of State William Burns met army chief Abdel Fattah al-Sisi as well as members of the Muslim Brotherhood, according to reports.
