Shooting in Lebanon kills Palestinian gunman

Lebanese soldiers killed a Palestininan gunman in Qasqas and Jadida during an exchange of fire. Palestinians Ahmed and Abd Quwaider used small arms to shoot at an army patrol in Qaqas, which resulted in a crossfire that left Ahmed dead. The Lebanese army said they take their country’s security and safety very seriously and any attackers will be arrested and put on trial. Palestinian authorities denied the participation of Palestinians in attacks in Beirut especially in Jadida. UN Special Coordinator in Lebanon Derek Plumbly voiced the “unequivocal condemnation against any attempt to destabilise Lebanon through political assassination [....] and determination to support the government of Lebanon and to put an end once and for all to impunity in Lebanon.”
