
A suicide bomber killed an Egyptian soldier in the Sinai Peninsula onFriday, as a second blast hit a bus wounding five civilians on a nearby road, securityofficials said.The suicide attack also wounded six police at a joint police-army checkpoint outsidethe South Sinai provincial capital Al-Tur, the officials said.Security forces have deployed in strength to protect the resorts along the SouthSinai coast that are a major plank of the country's battered tourism sector.Militants based in the increasingly lawless desert peninsula have killed scores ofsoldiers and police since the army ousted Islamist president Mohamed Morsi lastJuly.
