Sudan and South Sudan committed to peace

Sudan and South Sudan have agreed to take serious steps to carry out their joint security agreement signed in September 2012. The South Sudan and Sudan Joint Security Committee issued a statement on Thursday expressing the sincere wish of both countries to deal with address their various concerns and problems in order to achieve their strategic interests. According to the statement, the committee has followed the agreed measures to suspend all support for armed groups in both countries, and to increase mutual confidence between the two nations. Sudan and South Sudan stated their readiness to support the committees formed by the African Union to supervise the security situation between them. The two countries emphasised the need to deploy their troops along their shared border, according to the roadmap drafted by African mediators. Serious dialogue should be resumed in the coming period to resolve pending issues, the statement added.
