Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi declared on Sunday that the Syrian conflict is of foremost importance to Egyptian foreign policy. The president said a solution to the crisis will only be found if there are regional and international commitments to end the fighting. During a meeting with United Nations envoy Lakhdar Ibrahimi on Sunday, Morsi said; "The Syrian conflict will remain top priority in Egyptian foreign policy; we are keen to continue coordination and consultation with the leaders of the world to discuss future steps." Ibrahimi stressed the importance of maintaining the cohesion of the national coalition. He also praised the role of the UN Arab envoy, stressing Egypt's supportive stance. The Arab League recently denied the resignation of the Ibrahimi from his mission in Syria before his meeting with the Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon.
